PROJECT LAUNCH ANNOUNCEMENT
“INNOVATIVE NUTRITIONAL STRATEGIES FOR OBTAINING COMPETITIVE ANIMAL PRODUCTS ENRICHED WITH BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS BENEFICIAL TO CONSUMER HEALTH”

The National Research and Development Institute for Animal Biology and Nutrition – IBNA Balotești, as beneficiary, together with four other partners (P1 – AVIPUTNA SRL, P2 – SC CONȚEȘTI AGRICULTURĂ-INDUSTRIE-COMERȚ S.R.L., P3 – ONLY SERV SRL, P4 – SC OVIS CAP NEGRU SRL), announces the launch of the project entitled “INNOVATIVE NUTRITIONAL STRATEGIES FOR OBTAINING COMPETITIVE ANIMAL PRODUCTS ENRICHED WITH BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS BENEFICIAL TO CONSUMER HEALTH”, Project Code: 336320, Project Type: Support for RDI projects for thematic consortia between public-private partners, under Action 1.1, Measure 1.1.2.

The project is funded through the Smart Growth, Digitalisation and Financial Instruments Programme, managed by the Managing Authority for PCIDIF within the Ministry of Investments and European Projects.

General project objective / Project purpose:
The general objective of the project is the transfer of knowledge / applied scientific results specific to the field of animal nutrition (feed recipes/products enriched with bioactive compounds) and their implementation in livestock practice by four innovative SMEs in the agro-industrial sector, with the aim of obtaining animal products (meat, milk, eggs) with superior nutritional properties beneficial to consumer health. In this way, the technological maturity level of the research results will advance from TRL 4 (all transferred results being validated at laboratory level) to TRL 5–6, through validation and demonstration of effects at experimental biobase level, on small groups of animals (the organisation of micro-nutrition trials, which provide a relevant in vivo validation/demonstration environment), then to TRL 7, through demonstration of the feasibility of the proposed solutions (feeding strategies) under practical livestock production conditions (by organising macro-nutrition trials on the farms of the four SMEs), and to TRL 8, through the adaptation of the production technological flows of the four farms so that they allow diversification of the production of new foods (complete and qualified system). Two of the SMEs (those in the poultry sector) also aim to place the new products on the market, which also involves periodic demonstration of the improvement of the nutritional qualities of the animal products (equivalent to TRL 9).

EXPECTED RESULTS:
• New innovative feed recipes for laying hens / cattle / goats, tested and validated through experimental and functional models, accompanied by the know-how required for implementing these recipes in the production environment in order to obtain affordable foods with improved nutritional qualities;
• Optimised production processes through the transfer and implementation of these recipes by SMEs;
• Improved animal products (eggs, meat, milk) that are safe, affordable, and nutritionally enhanced;
• Promotion of the project in order to increase the visibility of the results, innovations, and products developed within the project. Promotional actions will target both final consumers and potential beneficiaries in the agri-food sector, such as farmers, feed producers, animal product processors, the scientific and academic environment, and representatives of public authorities;
• Patent applications.

Our institute proudly hosted the 12th Annual Conference, an event dedicated to the feed industry 🌾 and animal husbandry.

The conference aimed to bring together specialists, farmers, researchers, and passionate students to discuss key topics such as sustainability in livestock farming, nutritional efficiency, and emerging technologies in the field. We enjoyed engaging presentations and hands-on discussions that opened up new paths for collaboration and research.
